Is it a hit when a fielder throws to another base besides first and doesnt get the runner out?

say runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs, and a ground ball is hit to shortstop, the shortstop then throws to third cleanly but the runner beats out the throw. is that scored a hit or something else?
